Below you will find links that will take you to various articles written about the Haditha situation. Our family has been speaking to the press to protect Justin’s innocence. You will be viewing links to print stories as well as television coverage. Reporters have interviewed friends and family of our Marine; we need to support our son, brother, grandson, and hero.
To the right side of this page you can click each image to view a brief biography of LCpl Justin Sharratt, his civilian attorney, Gary Myers, as well as his immediate family. As the trial nears, Justin will be assigned two military attorneys. Their information will be added.
In mid-January 2007, Justin was reassigned barracks and issued a different job at Camp Pendleton. He is still permitted to go off base, take leave, and have visitors.
The accusations against the eight Marines being charged will soon be heard in Article 32 hearings in a Camp Pendleton courtroom. These hearings are the first step in determining whether the charges will stand. It is unclear when these hearings will begin or whether there will be eight individual hearings or a combination. If it is determined there is a sufficient cause for the charges to move forward, a court-martial will be convened and a military jury empanelled.
Regardless of the outcome, this Marine faces a lot of challenges. Justin is being charged for defending his country, his home, his family and friends, as well as strangers he has never met. He should be described as a hero, not a murderer. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. If you have any questions or comments you can find the Sharratt family contact information at the top of this page. Thank you for your support.
